LOCAL TOURISM

York is right on your doorstep when you stay with us. The city of York is located between the Dales and the Moors. This medieval city traces its ancestors through the fine selection of historical buildings that span the ages. One of the most dramatic sites is York Minster, the largest Gothic church in Northern Europe, dated from 1220; the Minster has the largest collection of medieval stained glass in Britain. The Shambles, one of the best-preserved medieval streets in Europe, can also be found in this city. The Jorvik Viking Centre illustrated a time when York was a strategic Viking town. The cobbled streets are full of unique shopping and souvenir opportunities.
